Final Two Production Diaries Shows Wrap of DW's Pendragon Cycle in Europe
Jeremy Boreing & DW wrap production of their most ambitious season of television to date, in The Pendragon Cycle, a mythopoeia-style fantasy series based on Christian author Stephen R Lawhead's masterful re-telling of the Arthurian legend.
.....
Week 15 & 16 has come together purposely by us to show the real potential that this series represents. Jeremy stated in week 15 that they gathered these last two weeks with the most cathartic and powerful moments, and he was not kidding. Great actors get wrapped, big battles get bled out with passion, and everyone looks exhausted. They get covered with snowy rain and icy mud on seemingly every battlefield.
This series drips with craftsmanship at every level and these sequences often become purposely prohibitive in order to live within the "suspension of disbelief" and in the pain and relief of reality. As the more modern fantasy series like Game of Thrones must offer to the viewer, it thrusts you into the reality of these often unbelievable scenarios, all in the effort to make the unreal more real than life, and to make the impossible or fantastical materialize before your very eyes.
You can almost feel the gritty mud under their fingernails.
The "mad dash to the end," as Jeremy called it, was why I had to wait to get to week 16 before we wrote our story. What kind of wait would this be? Similarly, I imagine as our wait to get to the show's premiere... unbearable. But now here we are, and soon the premiere of Pendragon will be coming... after (no doubt) a satisfying Am I Racist theatrical run.
DW can only do so much at one time and I predict they will announce it during a soon-coming Backstage show.
Speaking of Am I Racist, this work (in the case of Pendragon 6-7 months of shooting in Europe) does not often lead to success, especially in the case of Hollywood, but DW has a remarkable track record for success, so far. And Am I Racist is experiencing incredible success in theaters right now, as we speak!
So, have you bought your tickets to Am I Racist, or read our other stories on it, yet? If not, go down below.
