Dennis Quaid's 'Reagan' Gets Theatrical Date, Deal For Distribution
Deadline reports on Sean McNamara's Reagan biopic, starring Dennis Quaid, Jon Voight, Mena Suvari, Robert Davi, and Kevin Sorbo. The film finally gets a theatrical and streaming deal, after numerous Covid delays before their planned 2023 release date. Now with a new date of August 30th and new theatrical distributor Showbiz Direct, founded by former executives of companies such as; Open Road, Cinemark, Lionsgate, Miramax, and AMC, they form a combined expertise in theatrical distribution and film production that is certainly enviable. Executives Kevin Mitchell, Richie Fay, and Scott Kennedy form the backbone of an operation that promises to bridge gaps between the film artists and the distributors that reduce the Hollywood gatekeeping issues we are seeing now.
Will this make it easier for streaming opportunities later? We are not sure. But what we are seeing is that a mainstream audience from small indies to blockbuster films may benefit from seeing Showbiz Direct's films, like Reagan, because they seem to be providing more opportunities not just for viewers but also for theaters to come out with more win-win partnerships.
Speaking of win-wins here is Dennis Quaid authenticating a signed autograph of the Reagan poster which gets sold on the Pawn Stars show, where they discuss numerous Reagan memorabilia.
