Great American Family Begins New Mystery Movie Series
Variety reports on a story with Candace Cameron Bure, who heads up the new Great American Mysteries, which follows in the same vein as her past iterations as actor at Hallmark Studios. Hallmark had their Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, which came from the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries rebrand, and now GAF has their own 'cozy mysteries' with Ainsley McGregor.
The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker is where this movie series will begin, and Bure announced it with excitement on podcast at Crosswalk Talk as well as in numerous stories like this one on Variety and at Christian Headlines.
The official synopsis reads,
“...a former Chicago criminologist who returns to her hometown of Sweet River, Texas… (McGregor) has chosen to trade full-time crime work to open Bless Your Arts, a market for artisans to sell crafts and wares. But Ainsley cannot deny her first love is crime solving and accepts a position teaching a criminology class at the local community college. Her skills quickly become a major asset to the quaint town, when a murder occurs at a winery owned by her friend, who now stands accused of the crime. The Sweet River Sheriff, who just happens to be Ainsley’s brother, Ryan, wants her to stay out of the investigation. But Ainsley knows the pieces of this puzzle do not fit. To help her friend and with the unexpected assistance from some goodhearted local busybodies – Ainsley McGregor is back on the case.”
Bure stated,
“There’s nothing more exciting for me than being back in the cozy mystery genre.”
She continues…
“Mysteries are so fun to watch and to try to solve.”
This could really open up the GAF Studio to doing more nuanced work and maybe even something for the guys like me who mostly aren’t interested in small town romance or the new Christmas film ever year. There's nothing wrong whatsoever with those film series' but for me, it isn't enough to get me to come to the cable platform at Great American Family.
Now if they work in some action movies we’ve got something. Obviously this is a joke, but I do think conservatives need more work for men in theaters and on streaming, and this may reel in a few additional guys to their platform at GAF.
They say that more will be announced in the next few weeks, and the series is coming soon. How soon is unknown but we hope this is forthcoming with their upcoming news.
