Focus on the Family's Documentary 'Truth Rising,' Starring Os Guinness, Now On YouTube and X

Focus on the Family has been through some troubling events– some may even call them scandals. Many mark the event of James Dobson leaving his position there 'in 2023' as the turning point, others site the more recent doctrinal controversies such as calling same-sex attraction not sin (which happened this June 2025), while simultaneously calling all of our sinful behavior as sinful (including same-sex attraction).

This gained them no special favor from traditional and Bible-believing Christians around the world, as it mostly created confusion on an essential topic for their company. You can't "focus on the family" while you're allowing the family to be destroyed.

That said, they explained a bit more, and then apologized deeply for their error.

Here was the badly worded tweet.

They then explained, and finally, deeply apologized.

This allows us to move on to better, more important matters. Not how are we failing... but how are we succeeding in engaging the culture for Christ. Truth Rising attempts to do this on a foundational level... civilization itself. And they succeed.

They return us to the very Judeo-Christian foundational grounding that made the west great... specifically Christ and our relationship with the love, dignity, and purity He brings into the world. How do we relate to these truths and to Christ himself?

They also provide ways to reach out to community and to have a discussion about these important subjects in our own churches.

Without an honest assessment of the threats our modern civilization and culture now face, we will be letting it go to the dogs, as was stated clearly in the film.
