Could 'John Rambo' Origin Story Be the Next Daily Wire Project?

It's true, having no news on the Jeremy Boreing situation yet, this may be too much to hope for.

A little quote from the hero of this franchise, first...

"When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing."
– John Rambo

But this says nothing about how hard filmmaking can be, whether for Millenium Media, owner of the Rambo franchise, or Daily Wire, Dallas Sonnier's distribution partner for most Bonfire Legend projects. Sure, we may still be in the dark on The Daily Wire's entertainment efforts, but this does not mean we aren't familiar with what people like Dallas Sonnier are doing.

Dallas, who is the producing partner on Daily Wire's film division under the Bonfire Legend banner, is still making films and getting things done. This comes regardless of the fact that Jeremy Boreing stepped down as co-CEO of the Daily Wire.

And what's Dallas Sonnier making now? A Rambo: First Blood origin story called John Rambo. That's right!

Many during the Reagan 80's considered this 1982 action classic a conservative touchstone in the culture, among other films such as Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry films (that came a bit earlier) or other law & order films that reminded people that rules matter. This really was meaningful, because it was an effective reminder that all the 60's drug-head hippies can be punished for the nonsense they learned in college.

It also meant that there are consequences in the culture when we send good men off to war to live and die for the mistakes of their country, such as with Vietnam. The culture, in the form of good film, really could reconcile between the two (uniformly believed to be) clear-cut political lines of saying yes or no to the Vietnam War. Because well made and nuanced characters can accomplish this, with story that contains a healthy dose of honesty, cutting between the tribal nonsense of both parties.

Rambo could accomplish this as a patriotic realist. Not as a political animal. As a result, he hated war in each of his films, and yet he was willing to go all the way to the gates of hell to fight for his nation, if he had to. And yet this kind of man, what we recognized as a "good man" in our country, was now stuck between a rock and a hard place, simply by virtue of the political lack of nuance in the nation, and for almost no other reason that powerful men often sacrifice good men for their own well being. Not for the good of the nation.

After Rambo, people could see now that these kinds of real heroes really existed all across our nation, and in many ways this film singlehandedly brought many of these patriots to the forefront of our minds... and as the heroes they really are. No longer hated or despised as so many liberals taught their students and political animals to treat them. The reality was, they were extraordinary men that did what they did for the good of our country.

As it comes to this project, we are not aware of how far casting has gone, or what the plot is officially, but supposedly filming is happening in Thailand this coming October. Very likely this will be an origin story of John Rambo, and no word yet on if Sylvester Stallone will play a part in the film.

Deadline reports on this story here.

Considering how incredible it would be if Dallas Sonnier announced that Bonfire Legend's John Rambo would end up distributed by Daily Wire's own entertainment platform, we hope this will be the case. If you look at just how many films Bonfire Legend has made, while noting just how many of them end up on Daily Wire's platform, you might be surprised to realize that only 2 or 3 out of the 62 titles that Bonfire Legend has made have not ended up on DW. That means the lion's share of Bonfire Legend content ends up on DW, and maybe this is no exception.

That's an amazing ratio, and a 'pretty great number' which gives me a 'pretty positive outlook' on this.

Here's to hoping this is the case! As John Rambo says, "Nothing is over!!!" and as long as they don't 'turn it off,' maybe Rambo will keep it coming!
